Getting From Point A to Point B

One of my biggest When I Get To It dreams is to take this pile of manuscript, note cards, notebooks, pens, paper, and post-its, and make the whole thing mobile. Not thru-hiking the Appalachian Trail mobile. Just… leaving my kitchen table mobile.

I want to take my things–all this, and a pair of scissors, a roll of tape, and one small laptop computer–and go out.

I haven’t really decided where I want to go to, yet. If it were open, the library hasĀ  some nifty isolation rooms… and whatever restaurant has bottomless coffee is always beckoning.

So, I’ve been looking at appropriate bags to carry this kind of thing. I need a system.

Problem is… you can’t exactly go out and pick something up at the Writers’ World Big Box Store. The solution I’m looking for isn’t going to be buy in bulk, one-size-fits-all.

In the perfect world, I’d have a bag that holds the manuscript together. Compression straps to keep it from turning into a crumpled mess. In the not-so-perfect world, the manuscript would be in a file-wallet and then inside the bag.

All my other stuff? It would be organized neatly. (Uhm… it could happen.) Does anybody happen know of a messenger bag with a separate compartment for bottled ink?

The whole setup would be reasonably attractive. Affordable. Practical.

And most of all, quick.

Something I could take with me on spur-of-the-moment coffee runs. Something where I can work from the bag, most of the time.

Well, a girl can dream.

What about you? Do any of you have a revision-transportation system that I should know about?
