It’s Wednesday evening, and I’m boiling a pair of shoes.
Street shoes.
One at a time, because I don’t actually have a pot that’s big enough to boil both shoes at once.
Don’t ask questions.
Well, the goal is to make the shoes mold to a particularly tricky set of feet. Essentially, I’m hoping to break down the (synthetic!) fibers enough that they will stretch just a little bit more.
It’s a variation of the way I treat my dance shoes to get that custom fit. Of course, the recipe is different. Waaaay hotter water, and waaaaay more time in the water. And I’m just hoping it will work.
For the record? Memory foam? It doesn’t stand up to boiling water.
Never mind. If it works, I can always buy new insoles.
